Kuiperfest

I'm planning the first leg of my world domination, by traveling to Spain. I will be playing in Aragon at Kuiperfest on the 21st June. The plan, so far, is to drive 8 hours a day in a big truck, drink french wine in the evening and sleep in the vehicle. I don't know if it's going to come off, but either way, I will be at the festival somehow. It will be a weekend of art and literature, olives and sunshine. This is a photo of the place.

I've been doing some writing with Susumu Yokota for his forthcoming album. We've been passing files over the internet and exchanging ideas. The result is to come.

I recently made the scenic journey to a recording studio in the north of Wales to do some recording on James Yorkston's forthcoming album. I had some nice fish with the bass player and pianist. It was a lovely day, and I'm looking forward to the album coming out.

Mexico

Well, here I am in Mexico. I've taken to a roof top location in the Condesa part of Mexico City, where I currently write from.

You can see here a photo of the stairs up to my heavenly haven, my gateway to international communication via the internet, and also a picture of a Jacaranda tree which I can see from where I currently sit. I can hear the sound of people selling things on the street below - I can't tell what they're selling becasue they're speaking in Spanish. I'm also listening to Victorialand by the Cockteau Twins - it's a nice moment.

Last night, I played at a venue near here named 'The Black Horse' - very English sounding name I know. Tomorrow I will play at 'Zinco', in the Zocolo area.

The Airline lost my bag on the way here, so I spent a good two days wearing the same outfit, being interviewed by Mexican newspapers, TV and radios stations, thoroughly jetlagged and confused.

I've bought a little thing from an antiques market, I don't know what you'd call it - it's like a tiny piano which makes noises similar to a Dulcetone. I don't know how I’m going to transport the thing back to the UK, what with the fact I'm already carrying a harp and two bags of clothing.

Surprisingly, it's not too hot here today. In fact, I'm wearing a woolly jumper.

Jonathan Bonfiglio has arranged the shows here, he's an arts producer who lives in Spain. Please check out his website www.jonbonfiglio.com to find out about him.

Back to the UK at the end of March.
